William Bridge & Joan Parsons initial Residence

David Bridge (Living Family info validation)

Notes

  • Joan & Bill lived with Bertha & Stan Dungey for a few months (years?) in the early part of their marriage, having the downstairs front room and an upstairs bedroom. During this period Joan apparently left a saucepan(s) over the heat and Bertha picked them up and burnt her hands, their relationship went a little sour after this episode.
Bertha also did Joans washing whilst Joan was at work.

    ToDO:
Need to check Ilford Polling registers to verify for how long they lived there.
Unfortunately however Essex County Records Dept state these were not printed for 1940-1944 (due to the war no doubt):
Question: Can I look at old electoral registers?
Answer: Poll Books for the county are available in the Record Office library at Chelmsford for 1679-1763.
Manuscript pool books for 1810-1841 can be found in Quarter Sessions records.
After 1832 lists of electors were compiled annually, although none were printed for 1916, 1917 and 1940-1944.
The Record Office does not hold complete sets of all electoral regsisters, mainly only for those areas within London boroughs.
